The activity served as an opportunity to present DsM’s strategic directions, ongoing initiatives, and operational priorities in advancing capacity development, governance innovation, and public sector transformation across the region. As DAP’s regional arm in Mindanao, DsM continues to play a vital role in delivering responsive training programs, technical assistance, and development interventions tailored to the unique and evolving needs of Mindanao stakeholders.

VP Abesamis is an alumnus of the Development Academy of the Philippines’ Public Management Development Program (PMDP), and brings extensive experience in legal advisory, governance, executive support, and institutional management, gained from years of service in both national government agencies and international organizations.

Prior to joining DAP, he served as Director IV of the Governance Commission for Government-Owned or Controlled Corporations (GCG). His public service career likewise includes key leadership and legal positions in the Career Executive Service Board (CESB) and the Local Government Unit of Davao City, reflecting a strong track record in institutional strengthening and public sector reform.

He formally took his oath of office on 19 May 2026, administered by DAP Board of Trustees Chairperson Secretary Arsenio Balisacan at the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development Office, officially marking the beginning of his leadership role in the Academy.

The management briefing was attended by DAP Senior Vice President for Programs and Acting Executive Vice President Magdalena L. Mendoza, DAP Finance Department Manager Anatalia Barawidan, and DsM officers and staff. During the session, DsM personnel were formally introduced to the new Vice President, fostering stronger collaboration, alignment, and shared understanding of DAP’s mandate moving forward.

With VP Abesamis joining the DAP leadership team, the Academy further strengthens its commitment to excellence in public sector development, strategic governance, and institutional innovation. His appointment is expected to bring valuable leadership and fresh perspectives in advancing transformative, inclusive, and future-ready public service in Mindanao and beyond.

Through strengthened leadership and institutional synergy, DAP reaffirms its commitment to empowering Mindanao communities and advancing sustainable and inclusive development across the region.
